A Legal Entity Identifier should be obtained by the authorized representative of the legal entity. The issuance of an LEI does not indicate that the LOU is vouching for the financial/legal soundness or standing of a Legal Entity. In the case of a merger or acquisition, the new legal entity is required to obtain its own LEI.
